Helen Pearce
Helen Pearce has been quietly making ceramics since she completed 4 years at the Dunedin School of Art in 1999, crafting small range of contemplative domestic ware, hand built and wheel thrown.
‘I love both the symmetry of the wheel, and the irregular quirkiness of slab building.
This year I have been experimenting with different clay bodies and glazing techniques. I am inspired by our beautiful natural environment - low tide on a remote beach, still waters of a mountain lake, deep in native bush.
A cup of tea or coffee is a daily ritual for most. Without realizing, most of us will reach for a favourite cup or mug. It gives me great joy to know my work brings that subconscious quiet pleasure...’
